A meeting with Shri M. Maheshwar Rao, IAS, Commissioner, Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) and our Chief Traffic Warden Shri P. H. Rane, IPS (Rtd.), Chief Traffic Warden was held on Aug 08, 2026 , at the premises of Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML) to discuss key traffic management, road safety and public awareness initiatives.

The meeting was also attended by: Shri Sagayraj, Addl. Chief Traffic Warden, Shri Pradhan Shroff, Assistant Chief Traffic Warden and Shri Abhiram Athavale, Traffic Warden

The meeting was highly constructive and encouraging, with detailed discussions on several initiatives aimed at improving traffic management and road safety across Bengaluru.

Shri Abhiram Athavale presented a comprehensive East Division Traffic & Road Safety Report through a detailed PowerPoint presentation. The report highlighted key traffic and road safety concerns, along with practical recommendations for improvement. The observations and recommendations were well received and appreciated by the GBA Commissioner and his team of officers.

Traffic Wardens’ Efforts and Implementation of Recommendations

CTW Shri P. H. Rane, IPS (Rtd.) briefed the Commissioner on the efforts undertaken by the Traffic Wardens in preparing the report. He emphasised the importance of taking the recommendations forward and implementing them at the earliest, particularly as several of the proposed measures are cost-effective and can be implemented with minimal inter-departmental approvals.

Strategic Locations Requiring Immediate Attention

The Chief Traffic Warden also highlighted a few strategically important locations requiring immediate intervention to address existing traffic management and road safety concerns. The need for coordinated and timely action at these locations was emphasised.

Traffic & Road Safety Awareness Book for School Students

The CTW also introduced the Traffic & Road Safety Awareness Book specially developed for school students. The book is intended to be used during CTY (Catch Them Young) classes and other traffic awareness programmes conducted by the Traffic Warden Organisation.

Support for Printing and Distribution

The Chief Traffic Warden requested the GBA Commissioner to consider extending support towards the printing and distribution of the Traffic & Road Safety Awareness Books, enabling the Traffic Warden Organisation to reach a larger number of school students through its awareness programmes.

The GBA Commissioner was receptive to the proposal and expressed his willingness to extend support towards the printing and distribution of the awareness books.

A Positive Step Towards Safer Bengaluru

The meeting concluded on a very positive and encouraging note. The GBA Commissioner and his team appreciated the dedicated efforts of the Traffic Warden Organisation in identifying traffic and road safety challenges and in proposing practical solutions.

The interaction also reinforced the importance of collaborative efforts between the GBA, Bengaluru City Traffic Police and the Traffic Warden Organisation in building a safer, more efficient and traffic-friendly Bengaluru, while creating greater road safety awareness among the city’s young citizens.
